8 Things To Consider When Buying A Shed

  1. Roofline

There are a variety of roofline options available when purchasing a shed. The roofline you choose is a matter of style preference, and storage space availability. Some of the roofline options we offer include a Lean To, single slope roofline, a Gable, Classic Barn, Tall Barn, and Snake River. The Lean To offers a low profile look, perfect for leaning up against a house or up near a fence. The Gable style is our most popular option, offering that classic look. The Classic Barn gives more of a farm style look. The Tall Barn is perfect for getting the most storage space for the amount of money spent. The Snake River Series is an architectural garden shed dream.

  1. Wall Height

Wall height is an important thing to consider when buying a shed for many reasons. All Idaho Wood Sheds come standard with a 6’ wall height, but you can customize from there. You may have height restrictions per an HOA. In addition, depending on the type of door, and its placement on the shed, you may need to go with a taller wall. Finally, if you are planning on putting your shed up against a house, or under a tree, it’s important to factor in adequate clearance.

  1. Siding Style

Choosing siding for a shed usually comes down to price, and/or HOA requirements. Idaho Wood Sheds comes standard with vertically grooved LP siding that is primed and ready for paint. We also offer horizontal LAP siding. This can be a great option if you want the shed to match your house. There are many options when it comes to choosing siding for your shed including insulated silverside siding that has an “R” value of 7, T1-11 siding for that “wood look,” or log siding if you are wanting that cabin feel.

  1. Ventilation

Proper ventilation on a shed is key for maintaining airflow, and keeping moisture under control. All Idaho Wood Sheds come standard with one hand-crafted vent, and you are welcome to add more if you would like to. In addition, we offer a vented skylight option that not only allows for increased ventilation, but also adds natural light. Windows can be a great way to add extra ventilation as well.

  1. Accessories

Accessories are what makes each Idaho Wood Shed unique. Whether it be skylights, cupolas, a roll up door, a workbench, or a redwood deck, we have it all. We offer a variety of accessory options that are sure to please.

  1. Roofing material

All Idaho Wood Sheds come standard with 30 year architectural shingles. We have 4 different colors to choose from. We also offer a metal roof option, which can be a great option for areas that get a lot of snow.

  1. Doors

All Idaho Wood Sheds come standard with one 4’x6’ wood swing door. It comes with a lockable d-style handle. You have the option of adding transom windows to the door, or even getting a double wood swing door, or a dutch door. We also offer 36” steel man doors, and a variety of roll-up door options.

  1. Organization

The best way to get the most out of your storage shed is to keep it organized. Shelving is a great way to implement an organization system. Our shelving and workbench options are sure to help in your organization efforts.
